The interface can be frustrating. I've been using it regularly for about 7 months now and I can safely say that all the things the writer mentions in this blog are correct. I have found, however, some great websites that are excellent search engines( like Spotgate) that help get around the limited abilities that plague Spotify.

Re: Microsoft Buys Skype: What does it mean for Xbox 360 and Kinect?

I for one am excited with such proposition. It allows a better interface for email, news and media while on the go. It does not, however, replace my laptop or desktop.

Tablets are a convenient stepping stone to what will eventually equate to us having a local or cloud server with multiple access points to access our data. It introduces the concept of the cloud to the masses (iTunes) while offering a more accessible interface than a laptop and more in-depth access than a smartphone. In other words, it's a niche product.

Eventually, the desktop, laptop, phone, TV and smartphone will all share one hub of data per user, but in my opinion never be the same device. Sometime's we'll need to type 85 wpm and sometimes we wont.

Re: Why do you own a tablet?

I received an iPad2 for Christmas this year. While "omg so cool" I really had no idea just how much I would use and love having one. Since I got mine, I honestly never go on my home laptop. I love the convenience of having the internet nearby at all times and being so handy. Because I can simply look something up, check email, play games, social network, etc. I find that I actually don't spend as much time doing all of that if that makes any sense. It almost frees you up from spending time in front of a computer. After a day of working at one, it's pretty much the last thing I want to do anyway.

Another thing....since having a wifi iPad, I was able to cut back on the data plan for my phone. I use the iPad only at home and my office or someplace else where wifi is readily available. Aside from the reduced eye strain of doing things on my phone, this saved us some money as well.

Re: A Closer Look at Spotify

I've come to the conclusion that these things must make sense to people in the UK. I like the Spotify platform, but still think I can do without it. Even with the limits I think it will still serve as a great way to try out new music, then decide if I want to purchase.

Re: “Cutting the cord” to cable and satellite TV

Being part of that young generation, I have to say that I would not cancel my service because I do feel like I'm getting the most for my money. Being a customer and employee with DISH, I have taken advantage of getting everything that I felt would be great for me. The first thing is the Sling adapter. It allows me to watch the package that I subscribe to LIVE everywhere I go and see my DVR recordings from my phone. I think it is amazing. The other thing that I have is the Blockbuster Movie Pass, which allows me to stream on demand titles and get movie through the mail. Plus with the Blockbuster movie pass you get 20 more movie channels from DISH! That is worth it! Especially if you are a new customer because it is FREE for up to a year. All this is pretty much for nothing. That is why I don't blame technology and wouldn't cut my service. So if you want the most for your money come to DISH today!

Re: 3D Gaming Driving Wider 3D Interest

it,s a very nice information.thank you

Re: 3D Gaming Driving Wider 3D Interest

it,s a very nice information.thank you

Re: What Is an Effective Method of Combating Piracy?

it,s a very nice information.thank you

Re: Out with the physical books, in with the digital ones

I was hesitant too! I'm one of those in the category that watch programming through both traditional TV and digital options. However, the traditional TV in the past year has been reserved for professional sports games, if a game isn't on -the Netflix is fired up on the second monitor instead. I am excited to see how these two types of media commingle in newer transmedia campaigns. ;-)

Re: Trends in MMO and Social Games

Brilliant, thanks.

Re: Trends in MMO and Social Games

Sorry about that, Zak. Do you think users will revolt against this though? Ads on the homescreen don't seem too invasive. I'm a little surprised they aren't just incorporating it into ALL Kindle experiences. Album sales will probably never spring back to where they used to be and it's totally a natural thing. So who to blame?

1) The artists--Writing even one great song is, well, very difficult, but a whole album? (maybe the Beatles and Stones can pull that off.)

2) Consumers - They want the most value for their money, and as you mentioned, nobody enjoyed paying $12-$18 for one song they actually wanted.

3) Record companies and marketers - Need to come up with a way to please consumers-and it seems that they actually have - the 99 cent song is a great thing!
Other solutions are sites like Pandora Radio, allowing users to discover endless amounts of great music and purchase only what they like. It also levels the playing field of music distribution, having lesser know artists gain some exposure. Market opportunities are sill abundant in this industry.

Ultimately, the problem lies in the fact that music, by and large, is still art and applying business models to art is quite difficult but nevertheless possible. Great music will always be around, n'est-ce pas?

Best,
Gary

Re: Vudu – Wal-Mart's Trojan Horse?

Unfortunately, as somebody who has worked for VUDU I have seen the inner working and trust me Wal Mart is not as Machiavellian as one may think. Their main goal is to keep a foothold in the market not to dominate it. They are looking to separate Wal Mart and VUDU by introducing a separate streaming online Wal-Mart branded viewing service. This service will host "edited movies and TV shows to cater to a more conservative population base. They are still figuring out if the Walmart service will be ran via portal thu future VUDU apps. Ultimately subscription based services such as Netflix and Amazon prime will win customers over time. When the movie studios can bully the rights owners of legacy movies (60's-90's) ie: conversion to digital and waive digital viewing rights.
